CHIA SEEDS

Additional Information

Containing nearly 5 times more calcium than milk, and 3 times more iron  than spinach, chia seeds are an ancient natural food and a leading  modern day “super food”. Originating from the South American herb the chia plant, also known as  the chia sage, it is a member of the mint family. Traditionally chia  seeds formed a core part of local cuisine as flour, cereal and mixed in  drinks. Enriched with a plethora of useful proteins and vitamins, chia  seeds also embody large quantities of omega 6 and 3 fatty acids.

Chia seeds boast an abundant nutritional profile with approximately 20%  protein and more omega-3 fatty acids than any other plant, including  flax seeds. Our chia seeds are also routinely tested and analysed for  contaminants, to ensure that the final product is completely pure and  free from heavy metal residues and pesticides.

Chia seeds have a high soluble fibre content; these tiny seeds can hold  up to twenty times their weight in water. When they are mixed with  liquid, they form a gel in your stomach that curb your calorie intake by  making you feel full for longer and absorb excess moisture, which makes  feel you have eaten more than you really have.

Suggested use:

2 tablespoons (20g) of chia seeds daily can provide over 4000mg of  omega-3, to help you restore the lost balance between omega-3 and  omega-6.

Chia can be added to smoothies, in breakfast bowls, made in to chia  pudding, in raw cakes and puddings, in baking, in vegan cooking as a  ‘chia egg’ and so much more.
